🎭 Artist Bio: Maurice “Hero” Miller
Maurice J. Miller, professionally known as Maurice “Hero” Miller, is a Charlotte-based artist, designer, and comic creator whose work blends fine art, comics, and digital media into bold new expressions of storytelling. As the creative force and primary face of Millsbury Media, Hero has cultivated a world where art, identity, and imagination converge.
His artistic style is often described as dynamic, gritty, colorful, urban, and adventurous, reflecting his roots in Black culture, anime/manga influences, Afro-futurism, and street art aesthetics. Whether working in comics, digital illustration, UX design, or motion graphics, Hero’s work is character-driven and explores themes of identity, resilience, cosmic adventure, and the relationship between reality and imagination.
Hero’s creations include multiple original comic series within the Millsbury ComicVerse, such as:
Hiro Da Black Panda — a slice-of-life comedy featuring a reverse-colored panda navigating quirky adventures.
June Seven — a cosmic/sci-fi series following Gerald Seven and a diverse cast on intergalactic journeys.
Pride Helix — a futuristic series set in the year 20XX.
Plus contributions to Arcane Knights, Blur Havoc, Chosen, and anthologies like Millsbury Express.
Beyond comics, Hero has also released published works including Millsbury ComicVerse Volumes 1–3, one-shots like PiRated and Black Kangaroo, and a paperback edition of June Seven sold through Amazon and Walmart.
His reach extends into art showcases, freelance campaigns, and collaborations with small businesses, local musicians, and organizations. His work has appeared in RAW Artists exhibitions, promotional campaigns, and underground music scenes across Charlotte, Washington D.C., New York, and Chicago.
Through every medium, Hero seeks not just to tell stories but to build a legacy of characters, worlds, and designs that resonate with communities both locally and worldwide.
