Millsbury Media Clothing Wave 2020 – January 001


The Millsbury Media Clothing Wave 2020 (January 001) campaign was one of those rare creative moments where everything I was experimenting with as a designer came together. It captured the essence of what Millsbury Media has always stood for: individuality, creative expression, and a strong visual identity rooted in the world of graphic arts and illustration.

This project was created at the start of a new decade and served as a bold statement for what the Millsbury Media brand represented at the time. It was more than a clothing drop. It was a celebration of artistry, culture, and storytelling through wearable design.


The Concept Behind the Wave


When I first developed the January 001 collection, my goal was to launch something that felt alive with energy. The idea of a "wave" reflected motion, rhythm, and the creative momentum I wanted to build. It symbolized the start of a series of limited releases that would combine fashion, design, and media.


Each drop would carry a different vibe, but all would connect to Millsbury Media’s mission of merging art and lifestyle. The January 001 wave was the first, serving as a visual introduction to how I saw creativity taking shape in 2020.


The project also reflected the work ethic of artists who push boundaries and create from raw inspiration. Every garment, texture, and layout was meant to represent the culture of creators who bring imagination to life through art, design, and hustle.


The Yellow and Cheetah Graphic Sweatshirt


The highlight of this collection was the yellow and cheetah-pattern graphic sweatshirt. It became one of Millsbury Media’s most recognizable early designs. The color yellow was chosen for its vibrancy and warmth, representing optimism, creativity, and the excitement that comes with new beginnings. The cheetah pattern added energy and edge, symbolizing speed, instinct, and individuality.


This sweatshirt wasn’t just a piece of clothing. It was a statement of creative confidence and bold design. The layout and composition of the graphic were inspired by my illustration work during that time, combining layered textures, symbolic shapes, and clean, intentional color balance.


Every design choice was meant to speak directly to artists, designers, and those who live visually. It represented a blend of the studio mindset with streetwear culture, giving people a way to wear art that reflected who they are.


Design Direction and Aesthetic


The visual approach to this project was guided by clean, editorial-style composition and modern streetwear sensibilities. The overall presentation used sharp typography, black and white foundations, and accent colors that made the graphics pop.


Every element from photography to digital layout was treated as part of the story. The campaign imagery had the look and rhythm of a creative magazine feature, giving the project a professional yet artistic atmosphere. It blended the polish of branding work with the raw emotion of self-expression.


This campaign also became a testing ground for how future Millsbury Media drops would be structured. It set the tone for future creative collaborations, clothing concepts, and art-inspired visuals that would come to define the brand’s evolving aesthetic.


Legacy and Reflection


Today, the Millsbury Media Clothing Wave 2020 (January 001) stands as a classic moment in the brand’s history. The original yellow and cheetah-pattern sweatshirt and the creative collaborations from this era are no longer available for sale, but they remain an important part of Millsbury Media’s identity.


This wave represents a time when I was shaping the bridge between art and apparel, finding new ways to express the brand’s message through fashion. It taught me how impactful it can be to bring illustration and storytelling into wearable form, and how design can connect directly with people beyond a screen.


Looking back, this project reminds me of the excitement and freedom that come with building something from scratch. It carries the same energy that continues to push Millsbury Media forward: creativity, originality, and fearless experimentation.
